Biography

Rebekah Dickinson is a British violist.  She began studying the viola at the age of 6 with the Guernsey Music Service, before winning a scholarship to study at Wells Cathedral School under the tutelage of Matthew Souter and Roger Chase.  In 2018, Rebekah graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, London, where she had been studying with Paul Silverthorne.  After a brief stint in Italy, Rebekah returned to the UK and is currently coming to the end of her master’s studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Sarah-Jane Bradley.  In 2026 she will be a fellow of the OAcademy Orchestral Institute, working with Milan Milisavljevic. 

Rebekah is a committed orchestral musician and was recently offered a position with the Plovdiv State Opera Orchestra in Bulgaria.  She has been a regular member of orchestras such as the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, and is currently principal viola of the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra.  She has played alongside orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House (as a mentee), and English National Ballet Sinfonia. 

As a chamber musician, she is a member of The Lyra Trio, a flute, harp, and viola trio, and often plays in a duo with pianist Tiffany Qiu.  She has received coaching from artists such as the Endellion Quartet, Levon Chilingirian, Ursula Smith, and Gary Pomeroy. Rebekah has given solo recitals around the world, including Hawaii, Italy, Guernsey, and the UK, and has been featured on RAI Südtirol and NPR Hawaii.  She has participated in masterclasses with esteemed musicians including Haruka Nagao, Tomasz Krejbich, Roger Benedict and Pauline Sachse, among others. 

When not practicing the viola, Rebekah can be found tending the garden or walking in the hills around her family’s home on the Isle of Skye.
